Privacy

This describes what happens to the details you type into an expression of interest. It is written to match what the site actually does, not what it might do later.

What we collect

When you register interest in a trial we ask for four things, one of them optional:

  • The player's name.
  • An age group, a band such as U12 rather than a date of birth.
  • A parent or guardian's email address.
  • A short note, which is optional.

We also record which listing it came from and when it was sent, and our server keeps ordinary web logs including the IP address the request came from.

A child is a record here, never a user

Children do not have accounts on this site and cannot create one. Accounts belong to parents, guardians and club administrators.

We never ask for a child’s email address, phone number, school, home address, photograph or date of birth. The age band exists so a club can put a player in the right squad; it is not an identifier.

Who sees it

An expression of interest goes to the club or academy named on the listing, and to us as the operator of the site. Nobody else.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to advertisers, data brokers or other clubs. Where we publish figures about demand, they are aggregate counts only and are never traced back to an individual record.

The site runs on hosting and database services that necessarily store the data on our behalf. They process it only to run the service.

Seeing it, correcting it, deleting it

Email [email protected] and we will tell you what we hold, correct it, or delete it.

We do this by hand. There is currently no self-service delete button and no automated confirmation email, and we would rather say so than describe a button that is not there.

Deleting a record here does not delete anything the club already has. Once a club has received your expression of interest it holds its own copy, and you would need to ask the club directly.

How long we keep it

An expression of interest is kept while the listing is live and for twelve months afterwards, so a club can look back over a season, and is then deleted. Ask us sooner and we will delete it sooner.

Your rights under Australian law

This site is operated in Western Australia and handles personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The notice on the expression-of-interest form is the APP 5 collection notice, given at the moment of collection rather than buried here.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first. If we do not resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

When the site changes what it does, this page changes with it and the review date at the top moves. A policy that has drifted from the code is worse than no policy.
