Child safety

An expression of interest carries a player’s name and an age band. That is all we ask about the child.

We deliberately do not collect a child’s date of birth, email address, phone number, school, home address or photograph. Age is stored as a band such as U12 rather than a birth date, because a band is enough to place a player in a squad and a birth date is an identifier.

There is no player login, no player profile and no way for a child to create an account. Every account on this site belongs to a parent, guardian or club administrator.

The form asks a parent or guardian to submit on the child’s behalf. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to do it.

The club or academy named on a listing runs the session. It is responsible for supervision, for its coaches and volunteers, for its own member protection policy, and for holding current Working with Children Checks where the law requires them.

In Western Australia that obligation sits with the organisation and the individual under the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004 (WA). It is not something a directory can discharge on a club’s behalf, and we do not claim to.

Where a club tells us its coaching staff hold current Working with Children Checks, we record only two things: that a check was confirmed and the date it expires.

We never store a WWC card number. A card number alongside a family name is half of a lookup key into a government child-protection register, and there is no product benefit that justifies holding it.

A confirmation recorded here is a club’s own statement to us. It is not verification by us, and it is not endorsement.

We remove, and will not publish, listings that:

• ask a child to make contact directly rather than through a parent or guardian
• solicit photographs of children
• collect a child's home address, school or contact details through this site
• are posted by someone who cannot show they represent the club named
